Alchemy Graduates 15 FullStack JavaScript Developers, 60% of which are Women!

Wednesday, April 3, 2019

Another cohort finished our 6 month professional software development program this week, and we’re happy to report that 60% are women and also strongly represent the LGBTQ and LatinX communities.

After starting months ago with vanilla JavaScript, they are now able to develop a FullStack JavaScript App harnessing MongoDB and React. Their instructors, who are experienced software developers and architects, have taught them the importance of test driven development and clean code. They have worked on projects independently and know how to pair and mob program as well as work on complex projects using agile practices.

Alchemy graduates

Our program traditionally attracts bright and curious individuals looking to make a career transition, and they are passionate about being part of the tech community and looking to join teams where they can continue to learn and be challenged (as tech tends to be!).

This cohort includes those who have left behind careers as ER nurses, elementary school teachers, salespeople, environmental engineers, and other professions, because they felt they can better serve their interests and passions through code. They are incredible people with families and children. One graduate became a father to a beautiful daughter just 6 weeks ago.

They are now ready to enter the tech community and contribute to the great companies in our city.

Our grads traditionally get hired as software developers or engineers, and go on to rewarding careers.

You can learn more about all of them and their final projects here at this link. One group built a SlackBot to integrate into our very own Slack channel to help streamline questions from students as they move through our rigorous program. If you have any questions, or want to learn more about our graduates, email us!

If you’d like to learn more about our program and enroll in an upcoming cohort, reach out to our School Director, Megan Nelson, or drop into our space any Thursday at 12:30PM for an Open House. There’s a few spaces left in our Spring program starting in a couple weeks!

Congrats to our most recent grads! The future is bright, and we look forward to following each and every one of your careers!
